The Foundation

Service Today/Service Tomorrow

The River Falls Post 121 Foundation seeks to assure Post 121 services to veterans and to the community are secure now and for future generations.

With St. Croix Valley Foundation providing professional investment management the foundation has created two funds.

The first fund provides a non-profit umbrella for donations to the Post's many service activities. Within this fund the Post honors your wishes to target your donation to particular Post service.

The second fund, the Legion Legacy Fund, is an endowment where funds are set aside to secure Post's good works are here for future generations. Only the earnings are used, meaning that a dollar given today will still be helping veterans 10 years from now and beyond.

Regardless of the fund you choose your gift is tax exempt under 501 C3 of the Federal Tax Code, including transfers directly from your IRA or other retirement account. Of course, you can remember the foundation in your will or trust. Talk to your financial adviser or lawyer about your many giving options.

However and whatever you give, know that your donation makes a difference to a life, a family, a community.

Donation Fund Selections

1. Legion Life Line

Family - focused help for former and current service members and their families: transportation to medical appointments, wheel chair and walker lending, fruit baskets to shut-ins, financial assistance, veterans court mentors, support for Camp American Legion - a place of recuperation and rehabilitation for Wisconsin veterans, active duty military service members and their families.

2. Honoring Veterans

Services to recognize and remember veterans: military honors for veterans funerals, Veterans Day and Memorial Day Honor Guard recognition and events, veteran grave site flags, honor guard presentations at community events, weekly veteran fellowship coffees and support the Honor Flight Network which helps transport veterans to Washington D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials.

3. Children and Youth

Character development and civic engagement: American Legion Baseball, Legacy Scholarships, college scholarships for area high school students, oratorical competition, flag etiquette training, classroom presentations to promote patriotism and understanding of the contributions of veterans and the youth medal program that recognizes students who demonstrate strong qualities of character and good citizenship.

4. Veterans

Post 121 is proud to support the Veterans Memorial at Greenwood Cemetery and the memorial organization. The product of a community-based collaborative effort, this memorial is a beautiful and moving tribute to those who have served and sacrificed in the defense of our great nation.

5. Legion Legacy

Contributions for perpetuity: An endowment fund that seeks to assure Post 121 services to veterans and the community are secure for future generations. Contributions to this fund are forever. Only the earnings are used to support Legion activities so a dollar given today is helping veterans next year, ten years from now, a generation from now.

6. Undesignated

I want Post 121 to decide where it can best use my donation.
